Mederma® helps scars appear softer and smoother.

Mederma® Skin Care for Scars is a topical gel formulated to help scars appear softer, smoother and less visible. Mederma® Skin Care for Scars hydrates the scar tissue and promotes the normal skin healing process. Mederma® can be used in scars that result from surgery, accidents, burns or acne as well as stretch marks. Mederma® can be used in both new and old scars.1

Made from a proprietary botanical extract Cepalin® and other safe ingredients, Mederma® is convenient-to-use and affordable.

Mederma® gel is completely absorbed by the skin, does not leave behind a residue, and is pleasant smelling and greaseless.

You can apply make-up after using Mederma® Gel.

Mederma® Skin Care for scars is manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals from Germany.

Using Mederma® Skin Care for Scars

For best results, Mederma® Skin Care for Scars treatment should begin as soon as the wound is completely healed. Mederma® should be generously applied and gently rubbed with your fingertips into the scar 3-4 times a day for 3 months on new scars and 3-6 months on old scars. During application, spread outwards from the centre of the scar until the gel has been completely absorbed. With some scars you will see results after only a relatively short time. Most scars, however, require several months before their appearance improves noticeably.

Caring for Scars

Scarred skin needs attention and must not be neglected.

  • New scars should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or intense sunlight and UV rays. When outdoors protect your scar by using a high-factor sun screen product.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothes or garments which can rub over scarred skin.

  • Protect scars located near bones (e. g. on the elbow, shin or ankle).

  • Be careful not to injure the scar tissue again (e.g. with hard edges on your shoes). Fresh scars can easily open when playing sports (e.g. if hit by a ball).

For full details on how to administer Mederma®, you can download the Information Leaflet here.
